Having shown my cut to my target audience I have received some feedback which has been ver useful.
Overall it was very positive, people said it was very intense and that the sound was uncomfortable to listen to. This is good because one of my original goals was to make the audience feel uncomfortable taking inspiration from theatre of cruelty from the french practitioner Artaud. This engages the audience by involving them in the story as they feel the threat the characters are under. I am very glad I achieved this intention.
Improvement wise, people said I could do to make it more clear that the scenes not in the hospital are flashbacks. To do this they suggested different transitions and intensifying the filter on the flashback footage to real differentiate it from the hospital scenes.
At the end they said the beeps were eerie and effective but, instead of a black background, they suggested having the heart monitor animation going again but instead of the line going flat it would start 'jumping' again to clearly show she's alive. I like this idea and will experiment with it to see if I can do it.
They said Lucy's makeup was really effective and realistic and that I'd managed to achieve my naturalistic style.
I also watched their expressions as they watched it and all of them jumped and looked suitably upset after the gunshot which I'm very happy to have to have managed to achieve.
