Title - Evolutionary
Genre - Sci-fi/dystopian
Opens with a girl opening her eyes and she closes them again with a deep sigh suggesting that something bad is happening that day. We then get a montage of shots of her getting up and getting ready with a voiceover. The credits come up in creative ways as she does things like open her wardrobe doors to reveal some inside etc. The voiceover explains that today is the day she travels to the city for interrogation. We hear that she's scared and has been dreading the day since she was first asked why nobody ever had any siblings but her and her friends, since she realised that actually, everybody young had at least one brother or sister but her parents, relatives, teachers etc, were all only children.
We see her mum crying as she hugs her and tells her she loves her anther dad telling her that everything will be ok. Finally we see her sister appear from her room and they stand face to face before running into the biggest hug and crying.
They put on their shoes and coats and the whole family stand together looking at their reflection in a mirror. They say an emotional goodbye to their parents. This is all with sad, soft, non-diegetic sound in the background.
We have a close-up of the two sisters gripping hands before the voiceover explains, as they walk away from the house, that the government want to breed the best population for the happiest society which includes looking the best, having high levels of intelligence and not being over populated, so, parents are required to have more than one child and, when they're 16, they're tested, interrogated, watched and judged to decide which sibling is the best and which genes they want to be passed down in the future. The successful one goes home, the others are executed.
Whilst this is going on we see them board a train and sit opposite each other, linking hands.
We get a close-up of each sister's face as they look at each other and then get off the train and are separated by the crowd. As the crowd clears the title of the film is revealed on the platform.
Possible locations:
-My house for the scenes at home
-Ilkley train station
-The train
-Leeds train station
Strengths:
-Would have a very clear plot and the audience would know exactly what was going on.
-The scenes at home would be easy to film
Weaknesses:
-It's difficult to film in public areas - train station
-Need to have people who can act
